Zoo!

We took a field trip to the Zoo last Thursday and, even though it was crazy busy, it was still fun and the kids had a good time.  Our previously scheduled Zoo fieldtrip was too cold and rainy so we rescheduled it for last week and the weather was amazing! So sad that this is one of our last fieldtrips together as a Blue Preschool!  These boys have had a lot of good times together!

Train Ride

For our transportation field trip this week we went on a ride on the light-rail train in town (TRAX).  The boys were thrilled by the whole experience.  They thought buying tickets, sitting and waiting for our train, and then riding the train were so fun!  It was really cute to see their huge eyes and giant grins because they got to ride on a "Choo-choo train"!!  The whole trip was just delightful and we were also blessed with beautiful weather for the whole morning (a huge feat this month).

We rode downtown then got off at the old Union Train Station and let the kids look at all the cool pictures of trains on the walls and stain glass and run around to their hearts content- what a perfect thing for little boys who had been sitting so still for 20 minutes:)

After this we watched the fountains at the Gateway and the kids loved enjoying the beautiful day and watching the water.

We then went to the food court and got some ice cream cones.  The kids loved it even though it was early in the morning and it was a fun treat to have before we took the train back home.  (Oh, and we also took a little trip up and down the escalators which was also very exciting).

While we were waiting for the train for our ride back we sang, "The Wheels on the Bus" and then the modified "The Wheels on the Train" which was really cute.  The boys were also delighted when "Mr. Conductor" actually waved to them as the train pulled up. 

On the whole it was a great field trip and one those boys won't soon forget:)

Art Gallery

We had the amazing opportunity to visit the William's Fine Art Gallery today.  The kids got to see some amazing paintings and sculptures by real artists.  They were so great to let us come and to give our kids a great art experience.

They first took a walk around the gallery to look at all the art then they each got the chance to make their own work of art.  They painted with acryllic paints on canvas using the primary colors.  They got to paint like a real artist using one color as a base, then adding a little of the second color, and finally signing their name with the third color.  The kids all loved painting and their art looked so good when it was framed! 

They even got blue 1st place ribbons for their works or art!

Finally the kids got to walk around and find their favorite painting and get their picture taken with it.  It was really interesting to see which paintings each kid picked and why it was their favorite.

Children's Museum

For our Science Week field trip we went to the Children's Museum in town.  We got a great deal, being a school group, and were able to bring a bunch of friends and neighbors to join us.  All the kids seemed to have a blast and it was so fun watching them play with and experiment with all the things around them.  For our preschool boys it seemed like the ball room and the construction room were probably the favorites.

All in all a marvelous day!  This was one of the best field trips and the kids had SO much fun exploring and experimenting to their hearts content, and we didn't once have to say, "Don't touch that!"  J and I think we should have a Blue Preschool reunion here in the summer...  Good times!

Temple Square

We took a fun trip to Temple Square for our Christmas Nativity week.  T, EW, and G loved all the fountains and also were excited to see the shepherds, wise men, Mary, Joseph, and Baby Jesus on the different nativities.

We had a fun time in the Visitor's Center and were even able to watch a 20 min presentation on the family be the sister missionaries.  They thought that was pretty fun- they liked moving from room to room- although they kind of wanted to run around at the end, but it was really nice that they could have that experience with the missionaries.  Afterward we went outside and looked at the fun Nativity displays.

 The last nativity we saw was a large white one right in front of the temple in the fountain.  It was beautiful and the kids were excited to see baby Jesus in the water and they loved the temple.
