Fall

This week in preschool we learned about Fall. When the boys got here, we went outside and they each found a pinecone that was open, then we went inside and put them in a bowl of water. When a pinecone is open it means it's dehydrated, so when you put it in water and it gets enough water it will close up.

We came inside and learned the letter F, I have a cute little fridge toy that says the letter and it's sound and a word that the letter starts with, the boys thought it was fun and wanted to do it over and over again. It said "I love to f f f f flyyyyyyy"
They also learned number Four and that it also started with the letter F.
Then they each took a turn tracing big and little F.
We went back outside and did some Fall exercises. We stretched like trees blowing in the wind. Then we were leaves falling from the trees, they fell gently, bouncy, spinning, and some other silly ways.

For snack time, we had pumpkin cookies.
For our activity, we made Fall trees. I traced their arm for the trunk of the tree and their hand for the branches, then they used their paints and did finger prints for the leaves.
K doing his tree.
At the end we played Fall Bingo.

After the game, we read the book, the little red hen.

Here is one of the pinecones mostly closed up.

All things J

Today in Blue Preschool, we talked about the LETTER J! (For Jana, of course!) We looked at an upper- and lower-case J, talked about the sound "juh," and learned how to make a "J" in American Sign Language. Then, the boys (who were all dressed in their Jammies) had show-and-tell of things that start with the letter J.
G had prepared a Joke and a Justin Bieber song, K & J brought Jayden action figures, P had a picture of a jaguar, and E brought The Joker. I showed them my Jewelry.

We went outside to Jump on Js, Jog, and Jump rope.To practice fine motor skills and letter recognition, we looked through magazines and cut out the letters of our names and pasted them onto paper. The boys had so much fun looking for the letters that the other boys needed for their names!
Next was snack time! The boys got to Juice their own oranges. They also ate Jam on bread, and Jiggly Jello. (I had intended to let them get a Jellybean out of our little gumball machine, but I forgot!)

Next, we made a craft: A Jellyfish! We pulled up some YouTube videos of Jellyfish, slowly and quietly floating through the water. Then we made our own: (Plastic grocery bag stuffed with tissue paper and tied off with a rubber band. Tentacles made from curly ribbon.)

Last but not least, we played with Jars. We discovered that they made different sounds with different amounts of water in them. So, we lined them up and played a song. The boys requested: "I Am a Child of God."
We have some little musicians--Thanks to Teacher R, last year!

The Wonderful World of W

Preschool this week was filled with the letter “W” for Teacher W. She shared a few of her favorite things, all starting with the letter “W”.

First she loves to Wear purple, make the letter “W” with her fingers and Whisper the number 10.

She loves to Watch for stars as they come into the sky. We talked about What was the only star we could see during the day? THE SUN!

Teacher W loves to Walk and Wave at people as they go by. So we went for a Walk to a neighbor’s house where we picked blackberries and grapes. The kids gathered as many as they could. It was so much fun. We also collected a bit of sand for our art project. We held hands to cross the road and practiced our safety rules. The kids were great!

Then we Wrote with Washable markers on posters on the driveway, While listening to fun music. The kids were so creative!

While the kids colored, Teacher W took one boy at a time and had them Write their name with glue and then sprinkle sand on it. It was MAGIC to see their names appear. The LOVED every minute of it.

After all the fun, we had a fun snack inside of Watermelon and Teacher W’s Wacky muffins (zucchini). YUM! They also ate the fruit they picked earlier. While they ate the boys Watched Teacher W read two of her favorite books, “Little Tug” and “Duck in a Truck”.

After snack time we turned on a few of the Upstart Waterford Institute ABC and number songs. The boys LOVED watching them and singing along. We also had a chance to play a fun Discovery Toys game “Roll and Play”. We had so much fun today! We love our boys! !
