Letter R week

This week was fun! We missed our friend P. Hope he feels better soon. We learned about the letter R, shape Rectangle, color Red and number 5. Our lesson was also on Rhyming. The boys got to practice writing the letter R and finding it in a word search. We read fun books on Rhyming. I put together a Rhyme bag. We pulled the items out and made Rhyme words. They also acted out R-animals and words, like Rabbits, roosters and rolling around. For snack time we ate Ritz crackers and Red apples. The boys painted a picture of a Rainbow. They also went outside and picked out their own rock to paint. Instead of playing the game penny, penny who has the penny? We played rectangle, rectangle who has the rectangle?

Fire Station Tour

We went to visit the fire station, today! The kids got a fun explanation of all the parts of the engine, and then the visit was cut short because the firefighters got a call, but, it was fun.
Everyone got to try out a 25-pound air pack. It was almost as heavy as some of these kids!

Practicing with a hose:
It was a fun day!

Sweets Candy Factory Tour & Valentine's Day Party

On February 15, we took a tour of the Sweets Candy Factory. It was so much fun. We were able to see a lot of equipment in action and learn some really interesting things about how candy is made. Everyone was subject to very strict rules. We had to wear hairnets, no jewelry, no bags, no cameras, and stay within the painted lines. All the kids did really well. Since no cameras are allowed on the tour, we just have these "sweet" pictures of our group before we went into the factory area:

After the tour, we did some shopping (candy!) and then went to Teacher W's house for our Valentine's Day Party. We ate lunch and then the kids each decorated their own little valentine box, and they exchanged valentines.

It was fun, but we missed Teacher S & E & D.

The kids wore thier shirts backwards for opposite day.
We played UNO to practice our letters and colors for the day.
< They got the opportunity to practice writing the letter O.
For our lesson on opposites we read books and had an opposite baggy that the boys got to draw out of. They had to act out the opposite word while the other children guessed.
For our games we played Red light/green light and Hide-n-seek.
They loved hiding on the bunk beds.
For our snack we had Orange Julius, oranges and oreo's.
For the crafts the boys made opposite faces. Happy/sad or Nice/mean.

Letter P

Yesterday at Blue Preschool, we were learning all about the letter P. We started with "Show and Tell." The kids all had items that started with the letter P: painting, popcorn, Power Ranger, puppets, puzzle, and the book Pinkalicious. We read a couple of books, Pirate Boy by Eve Bunting, and Penguin by Polly Dunbar.
We watched a video of a peacock, HERE.

We did a worksheet about things that start with the letter P:(I am impressed by how well some of the boys' coloring skills have progressed!)

We made collages of things cut from magazines that start with the letter P.

We had a snack of Popcorn, Peaches, Pineapple, and Pickles.
We made Puzzles from Popsicle sticks:

It was fun. I think that letter-themed lessons are definitely my favorite. They are so fun to teach and give me a lot of flexibility and give the boys a lot of variety!

I gathered up some things(scissors, tape, air freshener, keys ect) and had the boys guess what it was with their eyes closed. They were pretty good at guessing what the noise was.
Then we read a fun book about a dog named Noodles. For our craft the boys made noodle necklaces.
Then the kids practiced their letter N writing. The got to color pictures that started with the letter N.
For our last activity we played hide-n-seek with the letter N. Each kid got to hide it somewhere in the living room. The boys could of played this for hours. They loved it!

Christmas Party

We had a little Christmas party a couple of weeks before Christmas. We made a paper chain to count down to Christmas, colored a picture, had lunch, decorated cookies, had a gift exchange, and the kids opened individual pinatas with a little treat inside. It was fun.
